Jennifer O’Connor, former general counsel at the Defense Department, has joined Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) as vice president, associate general counsel and sector counsel for the company’s mission systems sector.
Northrop said Friday she will succeed the retiring James Stephenson and report to Sheila Cheston, corporate vice president and general counsel.
In her new role, O’Connor will act as primary legal counsel to the mission systems sector president and senior staff as well as provide legal advice and law department support throughout the sector including subsidiaries, programs and sites.
She previously performed the duties of chief legal officer of DoD, principal legal adviser to the defense secretary and director of the Defense Legal Services Agency.
Before DoD, she was deputy assistant to former President Barack Obama deputy counsel at the White House.
OConnor also served as a partner at WilmerHale‘s litigation department and defense and national security groups.
