McLean, Va.-based firearm manufacturing company FN America has won a potential five-year, $119.2M contract to provide M4 and M4A1 carbines to the U.S. Army.
Army Contracting Command received six bids for the firm-fixed-price contract and will provide funds and location details upon issuance of task orders, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
The Pentagon expects contract work to finish by Jan. 30, 2025.
M4 is designed to be lighter and shorter than the M16 rifle technology, while M4A1 is an automatic version the carbine and has a safe, semi-automatic or fully automatic mode.
