Flashpoint has purchased open-source intelligence provider Echosec Systems for an undisclosed sum to broaden its OSINT capabilities to deliver geopolitical risk assessments, situational awareness, misinformation identification, counterterrorism and crisis response support to national security, public safety and commercial safety customers.
Echosec is headquartered in Victoria, British Columbia, and provides OSINT and publicly available information, including geospatial and social media collections, to safeguard people, infrastructure and other assets, Flashpoint said Thursday.
Flashpoint President Donald Saelinger said intelligence practitioners need a converged, user-focused platform that insights insights from closed and open intelligence sources.
“Integrating Echosec’s worldwide social media collections, intuitive interface, and industry expertise into Flashpoint will deliver unparalleled value to our customers, to help them best identify and mitigate all types of risk,” Saelinger added.
Flashpoint has been delivering intelligence from PAI, foreign language forums, chat services and criminal marketplaces for more than 10 years and expects the acquisition to expand its capabilities to provide data, automation and analytics across security use cases.
