A consortium led by Finmeccanica has received a $669.7 million contract to supply digital security and security services to Italys public offices as part of an effort to standardize digital security in public administrations.
The consortium that comprises IBM Italia and Fastweb won the contract through Italys central purchasing body Consip to provide cloud computing services, security, web portals, online services and application cooperation for public administrations in the country, Finmeccanica said Thursday.
We are delighted to have been selected to guide the public offices through the transformation process set forth by the Italian digital agenda and by the strategy document for the governments digital growth, said Mauro Moretti, CEO and general manager of Leonardo-Finmeccanica.
The contract represents the second of four lots under the framework agreement and the services will be available centrally or at the headquarters of the administrations that provide the services.
The services are meant to help prevent information technology accidents and analyze vulnerabilities of hardware and software components of government IT systems within centralized and shared cloud environments.
Another area of the services includes tools to maintain the legal validity of electronic documents and from digital copy.
