Hysen announced his appointment in a LinkedIn post published Monday.
Eric Hysen’s Responsibilities as Salesforce’s Chief AI & Transformation Officer
In this capacity, Hysen said he will work with Salesforce President and Chief Legal Officer Sabastian Niles and other key leaders to accelerate AI adoption and transform the company’s legal, government, compliance and public affairs with AI.
“My focus will be on putting advanced AI capabilities to work across every aspect of our teams, streamlining how we work, unlocking new opportunities, and setting the standard for strong governance and ethical innovation. I’m also excited to collaborate with customers and partners in both the public and private sectors as they reinvent their own organizations and industries with AI,” Hysen said in his post.
Who Is Eric Hysen?
In addition to his role as CIO at DHS, Hysen served as the department’s first chief AI officer. In this position, he promoted AI innovation and safety and advised the DHS leadership on AI issues.
He previously served as a senior fellow for policy design and implementation at the National Conference on Citizenship and helped launch the California Office of Digital Innovation.
The Harvard University computer science graduate was the executive director of the DHS Digital Service and was a founding member of the U.S. Digital Service in the White House.
Before joining the government, Hysen worked at Google as a software engineer and program manager.
