How Does the Acquisition Expand Empower AI’s Portfolio?

Empower AI said Tuesday the acquisition of the Fairfax, Virginia-based federal IT services provider strengthens its capabilities in AI, cloud computing, data management and DevSecOps while expanding its ability to support modernization initiatives at the Departments of State and Homeland Security. Financial terms of the transaction, which took effect July 7, were not disclosed.

Jeff Bohling, CEO of Empower AI and a two-time Wash100 Award winner, said Highlight Technologies adds technical expertise, proven technologies and agency relationships that will expand the company’s ability to support federal customers.

What Capabilities Does Highlight Bring?

Highlight Technologies offers digital modernization, data-driven decision support and rapid-response services, including its AI Data Integration and Orchestration Engine, or AIDE, which expands Empower AI’s proprietary AI accelerator portfolio. AIDE was recently assessed as “Awardable” in the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office’s Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace, providing access to additional defense opportunities.

Highlight CEO Aarish Gokaldas said Empower AI’s AI-focused strategy and Highlight’s federal mission expertise position the combined organization to deliver greater value to government customers.

The acquisition builds on a series of recent wins for Empower AI. In June, the company secured a potential $255.4 million recompete contract from the Defense Information Systems Agency to continue providing enterprise IT support and was selected for NASA’s Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement VI governmentwide acquisition contract, further expanding its ability to deliver AI, cloud and digital modernization capabilities across the federal government. It also recently won a task order worth more than $60 million from the U.S. Army to support technology modernization at the U.S. Military Academy’s Lincoln Hall.
