Embedded Ventures has agreed to help the U.S. Space Force examine how venture capital investments can drive innovation in the space industry.
The California-based VC firm said it signed a cooperative research and development agreement with USSF’s SpaceWERX organization as the military branch looks to pursue new space-based technologies through partnerships with commercial and academic sectors.
As part of the CRADA, both parties will study USSF-industry relations and discuss the partnership’s movement toward milestones.
The Air Force Research Laboratory’s Technology Transfer Office facilitated the arrangement between SpaceWERX and Embedded Ventures.
Mandy Vaughn, operating partner at Embedded Ventures; Gabe Mounce, deputy director of SpaceWERX; Melissa Ortiz, agreements specialist for AFRL’s Tech Transfer Office; and various officers from the U.S. Air Force supported the CRADA’s execution.
Embedded Ventures launched in 2020 with the goal to invest in space technology startups focused on defense, logistics, communication, edge computing, dual-use technology, manufacturing and quantum applications.
