Initial work on the replacement of the Water Treatment Plant at the military training facility is covered by a $126.4 million award funded by the Marine Corps’ military construction budget for fiscal 2018 and 2022, the Department of Defense said Friday.
ECC, which won the contract against two other bidders, will build the plant in compliance with regulatory requirements and will equip it with membrane filtration technology to help with saltwater intrusion risks. The facility is envisioned to have an eight-million-water-gallons-per-day capacity.
Construction will run through August 2025.
The Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command awarded the contract, which has two options that, if exercised, would raise the cumulative value to its potential amount.
