Charles Stark Draper Laboratory has booked a $161.06 million contract option from the U.S. Navy to continue support for the modernization of a guidance system for the Trident II submarine-launched ballistic missiles.
The nonprofit engineering company is responsible for the design, production and test of new MK6 MOD 1 guidance technology under the service branch’s Strategic Systems Program Alteration program, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
Under the sole-source contract, Draper will develop replacements for circuit card assemblies, optic gyros, accelerometers, inertial measurement units and electronic modules and assemblies.
The company will acquire materials needed to make the MOD I SPALT configuration work on the MOD 0 model, as well as support MK6 subsystem repair, test and re-certification efforts.
Work will take place in Massachusetts, Florida and New York through July 2025.
