The Defense Information Systems Agency has started its solicitation process for a potential seven-year, $175 million contract to help U.S. troops worldwide communicate with their family members and friends.
DISA aims to provide warfighters access to infrastructure that will allow them to make long-distance phone and video calls, check emails and search the web as part of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Global Internet Connect Program, according to a notice posted Monday on SAM.gov.
The proposed single-award MWR ICP contract will include systems engineering, satellite communications, telecommunications, field service, network operations center and integrated logistics support services.
Internet services may also support disaster relief or non-Department of Defense and U.S. government requirements if needed, the agency noted.
Offerors have until Jan. 4 to respond to the solicitation process.
