Steve Septoff, vice president of federal sales at Dell Technologies (NYSE: DELL), said the shift to remote work has prompted government agencies to accelerate information technology modernization efforts and increased the need for organizations to operate in multicloud computing environments.
“Agencies are looking at cloud as an operating model that spans edge computing and private and public clouds — one that offers consistency in infrastructure and operations,” Septoff wrote.
He discussed how a hybrid cloud approach could provide agencies the needed security and flexibility to operate and the need for agencies to implement “secure cloud innovation and digital transformation that reach across compute, storage, networking and data protection.”
Septoff noted that public and private sectors should make 5G development and deployment a key part of their digital transformation strategies.
“To prepare government for success in a 5G world, it is imperative to remember that 5G is constructed on common building blocks of compute, storage and networking,” he added.
The Dell Technologies executive also cited the need for agencies to help federal employees carry out their missions by providing them access to digital resources and other technology tools and maintaining end-to-end security.
