David Norquist, comptroller at the Department of Defense and a 2019 Wash100 winner, has received Senate confirmation and been sworn in as the 34th deputy DoD secretary.
Jonathan Hoffman, chief spokesperson at the Pentagon, said in a statement published Wednesday Navy Secretary and a 2019 Wash100 awardee Richard Spencer, who took over as acting deputy DoD secretary, will resume his duties as head of the service branch.
Norquist started serving as interim deputy defense secretary in January. He is a three-decade federal financial management professional who previously served as chief financial officer at the Department of Homeland Security and as a partner at accounting firm Kearney and Co.
His confirmation came a month after President Donald Trump announced plans to nominate him for the post.
