David Lockwood, CEO of U.K.-based electronics firm Laird, will succeed Bob Murphy as CEO of Cobhamby Jan. 1, 2017.
Murphy will leave his post by the end of 2016 and will be succeeded by Lockwood on the company™s board of directors, Cobham said Wednesday.
“David has a background in defense and communications technology which are at the heart of Cobham, said John Devaney, chairman of Cobham.
Lockwood joined Laird in 2012 after he worked at BT Global Services as vice president of global defense and security.
The chartered accountant also held positions at several defense companies such as Thales, BAE Systemsand GPT (Marconi).
Lockwood was named non-executive chairman of Knowledge Transfer Network in 2014 and chaired a technology consulting group for the government of Scotland.
