The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has chosen BAE Systems to create a semi-autonomous technology that would help military personnel to plan missions.
BAE said Tuesday it will develop the Multi-domain Adaptive Request Service software to facilitate automatic battlespace data collection across air, sea, land and space domains.
The company will perform work as part of a $3.1M contract under DARPA’s Adapting Cross-Domain Kill-Webs program that aims to boost the adaptability of operators in changing environments.
The BAE FAST Labs team will collaborate with Carnegie Mellon University on MARS development efforts.
Work will occur at company facilities located in Massachusetts and Virginia.
“Our hope is that MARS will provide warfighters with the ability to automatically leverage the resources they need and quickly determine the most effective way to accomplish their mission no matter what type of battlespace they are operating in,” said Chris Eisenbies, product line director of the BAE’s autonomy, controls and estimation group.
