Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has won a $41.2 million contract to produce and test an unmanned underwater vehicle demonstrator for the second phase of a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency-funded project.
The company will help DARPA build a full-scale long-endurance UUV system under the cost-plus-fixed-fee Manta Ray Phase 2 contract, the Department of Defense said Friday.
DARPA is obligating $10.8 million in fiscal 2021 and fiscal 2022 research, development, test and engineering funds at the time of award.
The agency originally awarded separate contracts to Northrop, Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) and Navatek in March 2020 to develop an integrated system for the technology and operational areas of the Manta Ray program.
