Cubics (NYSE: CUB) global defense unit has received a contract to provide additional air combat training pods and subsystems to the U.S. Air Force and foreign military sales clients.
The company said Tuesday it will deliver P5CTS airborne pods to the Air Force and supply ground subsystems as well as instrumentation pods to an undisclosed international customer for use in air-to-air, surface-to-air and air-to-ground training activities.
P5CTS is comprised of ground stations ad GPS-enabled airborne instrumentation pods that support weapons execution functions and record data in real time to help airmen evaluate performance during exercises.
Leonardo DRS serves as the principal subcontractor for Cubic and will provide the airborne instrumentation pods.
Jonas Furukrona, vice president and general manager of air training solutions at Cubic Global Defense, said the contract award reflects the companys commitment to support USAF training activities such as Exercise Red Flag.
He added that Cubic and Leonardo DRS collaborate to update the system as part of efforts to sustain the program beyond 2030.
To date, more than 2K P5CTS airborne pods and ground systems have been deployed worldwide.
