Congress averted a government shutdown after passing a continuing resolution that would fund government operations through early March, Reuters reported Thursday.
The House on Thursday voted 314-108 to approve the stopgap funding measure hours after the Senate passed the legislation by a 77-18 vote.
The CR, which is now headed to President Joe Biden’s desk for his signature, extends through March 1 funding for four appropriations measures covering agriculture, veterans affairs and military construction. The measure extends until March 8 appropriations for the remaining eight bills encompassing defense, homeland security, health and human services, education and all other federal operations and programs.
Under the previous stopgap measure signed into law in November, lawmakers set Jan. 19 and Feb. 2 deadlines for appropriations for federal operations.
