Concur’s Matt Gibbons: Mobile Tech Platforms Could Help Agencies Manage Employee Expenses

Matt Gibbons, senior director of public sector sales at Bellevue, Washington-based travel and expense management services provider Concur, has said government agencies should adopt mobile technology platforms to accurately record and manage employee-initiated spending data.

Gibbons wrote the adoption of mobile platforms in order to capture spending data works to help agencies manage budgets, negotiate prices, boost transparency and achieve mission outcomes.

He discussed the implementation of a spend management platform and its potential benefits to agencies.

œWhen an agency™s spend management system is configured in alignment with governing policy, compliance can be automatically enforced, and employees can easily make decisions that abide by those policies on the road, at home, or in the office, he noted.

Agencies seeking to field an expense management platform should consider a software-as-a-service provider that works to integrate with agencies™ enterprise resource planning tools, adopts mobility and offers an open platform, Gibbons said.

œOpen platforms further extend system innovations by allowing business partners to integrate new apps into the system, he added.
