Collins Aerospace Gets $806M USAF Tactical Reconnaissance Pod Contract Modification

Raytheon Technologies‘ (NYSE: RTX) Collins Aerospace subsidiary has received a potential five-year, $805.7 million contract modification from the U.S. Air Force to continue supporting the service’s Tactical Reconnaissance Pod program.

The latest award brings the contract’s total cumulative face value to approximately $1 billion, the Department of Defense said Friday.

Under the modification, the contractor will perform work at its facility in Westford, Massachusetts, through Feb. 17, 2027.

The contract was originally awarded in December 2017 to provide allies and other partner countries with DB-110 reconnaissance pods, airborne data link terminals and related equipment through the foreign military sales program.

The DB-110 Airborne Reconnaissance System is a dual-band pod that provides intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities and has a stand-off range of at least 80 nautical miles. The platform can collect high-resolution imagery of more than 10,000 square miles an hour and is operational on several aircraft, including F-16 and F-15 fighter jets and P-3 maritime surveillance aircraft.

In December, Collins Aerospace secured a potential $147 million order from the Air Force to supply MS-110 Tactical Reconnaissance Pods to Taiwan as part of a foreign military sales agreement.
