Tim Solms, vice president of public sector at Cloudera (NYSE: CLDR), has said government agencies that aim to obtain insights from large amounts of data should look to cloud platforms that offer high-volume storage and computing capabilities.
Solms wrote that agencies seeking to make more informed decisions and build up their service offerings to citizens could leverage cloud-based analytics platforms to analyze and determine trends in collected data.
He cited potential use cases in which agencies could apply cloud-based analytics tools, such as addressing opioid addiction and preventing suicide attempts among soldiers.
Agencies should also prioritize the security of collected data and œmust view all their environments from a single governance perspective when they™re trying to adhere to a variety of security and privacy regulations.
œAgencies should consider holding onto as much data as possible by moving it into inexpensive storage, whether it is cloud-based or on-premises, and then running advanced analytics to see what™s there, Solms added.
