The CIA intends to award multiple cloud computing contracts to technology firms as it plans to develop a multicloud ecosystem, Bloomberg reported Wednesday.
The report said Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) and IBM (NYSE: IBM) are among the companies that are likely to submit proposals for the agency’s Commercial Cloud Enterprise initiative.
The agency wants offerors to provide cloud-based software and cloud infrastructure to host data workloads at unclassified, secret and top-secret levels under the C2E program, according to draft requirements obtained by the publication. Vendors will be selected based on their “operational excellence,” innovation and global reach.
The contracts have a base term of five years and two five-year renewals and could be awarded by September.
