Maritime engineering and design company Gibbs & Cox has appointed Chris Deegan, former vice president of the company’s engineering group, to the roles of president and CEO.
The Arlington, Virginia-based contractor said Tuesday Deegan will succeed Rick Biben, who will continue to serve on G&C’s board of directors.
“Chris has delivered exceptional results in every job associated with maritime engineering and program management, ” said G&C Chairman Ned Daffan.
“Rick brought diverse, top-level corporate executive expertise to G&C just as we embarked on a major growth initiative, ” Daffan added.
Deegan joined G&C in 2013 after a 28-year career in the U.S. Navy that included leadership roles over nuclear submarine, ship and combat systems programs.
His most recent assignment in the service branch was as a member of the Senior Executive Service to support the Naval Sea Systems Command and the Navy’s program executive office for integrated warfare systems.
Biben led G&C through its acquisition of marine craft maker Donald L. Blount and Associates in 2015, as well as G&C’s expansion efforts in the government services sector that included contract awards to support Navy programs.
