Cedric Sims, Austin Wang Join Mitre’s Leadership Team; Jason Providakes Quoted

Mitre has expanded its leadership team with the appointment of industry veteran Cedric Sims as senior vice president of enterprise innovation and integration and intelligence expert Austin Wang as VP of the intelligence center, Mitre National Security.

Sims will come up with strategies to promote enterprisewide innovation and develop integration platforms in support of government sponsors and manage research initiatives delivered through Mitre’s Center for Data-Driven Policy and Center for Strategic Competition, Mitre said Tuesday.

He will also oversee the McLean, Virginia-based nonprofit research company’s corporate strategy and management office and enterprise computing, information and security business center.

Sims previously served as SVP for the justice, homeland security and transportation business at Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH). He held leadership positions at the U.S. Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security and brings to the role over 25 years of experience in cybersecurity, acquisition, systems engineering, risk management and artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Wang will oversee the development of multiagency, joint platforms through the integration across Mitre’s national security enterprise and the intelligence community.

He spent more than two decades at the CIA, where he served as a senior executive and clandestine technical operations lead. He worked on ground electronic warfare and signals intelligence during his time in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Jason Providakes, president and CEO of Mitre and a three-time Wash100 Award winner, said Sims and Wang will bring their systems thinking and public sector and business leadership experience to Mitre.
