Customs and Border Protection has issued a notice of solicitation for a potential five-year, $415M indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for x-ray systems that will work to help officers detect contraband items in vehicles at the point of entry.
The agency said Friday in a SAM post it will accept proposals until Sept. 21 for Multi-Energy Portal supplies and services as part of its Non-Intrusive Inspection program.
CBP intends for the MEP system to incorporate features that can support vehicle inspection, license plate recognition, radio frequency identification and data storage.
According to the statement of work, the government may require a potential vendor to modify a commercial off-the-shelf offering to support integration with existing NII and information technology platforms or implementation of assisted and automated threat recognition algorithms.
A potential vendor will also provide training, logistics and on-demand support services through the IDIQ. the agency noted.
