Carlos Hernandez, chief legal officer and corporate secretary of Fluor (NYSE: FLR) over the past 12 years, has taken a new role as interim CEO after David Seaton stepped down from the company’s helm.
Fluor said Thursday that Seaton, who assumed the CEO post in February 2011 and added the title of chairman one year later, will stay on until the transition is complete.
Hernandez joined the company in 2007 after he served as general counsel of steel producer ArcelorMittal™s U.S. arm and previously worked at Fleming Companies and Armco.
Alan Boeckmann, a 36-year Fluor veteran who returned to the firm’s board of directors early in May, will serve as executive chairman.
He led the Irving, Texas-based contractor from 2002 to 2011 as chairman and CEO, and held the non-executive chairman role from 2011 until his retirement in 2012.
Boeckmann is a board member at Sempra Energy and Archer Daniels Midland.
