The California Institute of Technology will continue to help NASA run the space agency’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory under a potential $2.5 billion indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.
NASA said Wednesday Caltech will manage the development and sustainment of core competencies for NASA-funded projects in areas such as astrophysics, aeronautics, Earth and planetary sciences, heliophysics and space.
Caltech will also oversee competed and peer-reviewed research activities sponsored by NASA as well as manage the Deep Space Network for the agency.
The institute’s current JPL operations support contract is set to expire Sept. 30.
