The Defense Innovation Unit has awarded CAE‘s (NYSE: CAE) U.S. subsidiary a contract to help the U.S. Air Force integrate and install a cloud-based learning management system as part of an initiative to simplify the branch’s approach to train new airmen.
CAE said Monday it will support the development and testing of LMS along wth the platform’s artificial intelligence tools for the first phase of USAF’s Undergraduate Pilot Training 2.5 program.
The system is a key component of the company’s Trax Academy continuum and designed to provide students on-demand access to courseware, remote instruction and schedules.
USAF seeks to establish a learner-centered training environment with the use of commercial tools and learning methods through the UPT 2.5 effort.
Ray Duquette, president and general manager of CAE USA, said the company has invested in digital platforms and data analytics over recent years to help military customers develop future pilots.
The LMS will undergo initial tests at Vance AF Base in Oklahoma and Joint Base San Antonio Randolph in Texas.
