BWX Technologies’ (NYSE: BWXT) Nuclear Fuel Services subsidiary has received contract options worth $128M combined to continue to produce fuel in support of the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
NFS is expected to kick off fuel manufacturing work later this year in support of the country’s nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers under the 12-month exercised options, BWXT said Tuesday.
“NFS is proud to support the needs of the U.S. Navy,” said John Stewart, president of NFS. “Our workforce is dedicated to providing fuel and services of the highest quality to support the men and women charged with our country’s defense efforts.”
NFS is part of BWXT’s Nuclear Operations Group with a workforce of approximately 1,100 contractors and security personnel. It is a Category 1 nuclear facility with a Nuclear Regulatory Commission license to process and store highly enriched uranium.
