BWXT JV Wins Potential $21B DOE Environmental Management Contract; Ken Camplin Quoted

A joint venture led by BWX Technologies‘ (NYSE: BWXT) technical services subsidiary will perform environmental management work for the Department of Energy at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina under a potential 10-year, $21 billion contract.

The Savannah River Mission Completion team will treat or dispose of liquid waste and may manage nuclear materials as part of the Savannah River Site Integrated Mission Completion Contract, BWXT said Thursday.

Amentum and Fluor (NYSE: FLR) are BWXT’s main partners in the joint venture. DBD and Wesworks will respectively provide modeling and project control services to the project as subcontractors.

“We intend to work with our SRMC teammates, our DOE customer, the regulatory authorities and the community in making a significant impact on waste management at SRS for many years to come,” said Ken Camplin, president of BWXT’s nuclear services group.

DOE said Wednesday it received four proposals for the procurement effort via a full and open competition.
