A joint venture of BWX Technologies™ (NYSE: BWXT) technical services group business, Honeywell International (NYSE: HON) and Bechtel National has won a potential 10-year, $4.7 billion contract from the Energy Department to deliver liquid waste services for the Savannah River Site in South Carolina.
Savannah River EcoManagement LLC will run existing radioactive liquid waste facilities to facilitate waste treatment, disposal and storage, remove waste from tanks and build up additional saltstone disposal units, DOE said Thursday.
DOE received three bids for the cost-plus-award-fee contract that has a seven-year base term that includes a 90-day transition period as well as three option years.
BWXT said Friday the contract also covers liquid waste program and support and operation of the salt waste processing facility following site commissioning and one-year operation.
