Boeing Awarded $61M Navy Contract for Anti-Submarine Warfare Equipment

Boeing has secured a $61.2 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy for anti-submarine weapon equipment and related support services.

High Altitude Anti-Submarine Warfare Weapon Capability Contract Scope

The Department of Defense said Wednesday the firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee and cost modification contract covers the production of air launch accessory equipment for the High Altitude Anti-Submarine Warfare Weapon Capability, or HAAWC, system. In addition, the St. Louis, Missouri-based company will provide the necessary materials, hardware and engineering services to support the production process for the HAAWC equipment.

With the modification, the contract now includes options for an additional $160.9 million. The total contract value will reach $349.2 million if all options are exercised.

Boeing will conduct the majority of the work in St. Charles, Missouri. Additional work will occur in Salt Lake City, Utah; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Chandler, Arizona; and St. Louis, Joplin, and Piedmont, Missouri. The project is expected to run through January 2028.

At the time of the award, the Naval Sea Systems Command will provide Boeing with $1.5 million, $14.3 million and $16.1 million from the Navy’s weapon procurement fund from fiscal years 2023, 2024 and 2025, respectively. Another $12.8 million will be allocated from the service branch’s fiscal 2024 research, development, test, and evaluation funds. The amount of $14.3 million will expire after the fiscal year.

Initial HAAWC Contract

The initial contract was awarded to Boeing in August 2022. The potential eight-year, $121.4 million deal covered the production of HAAWC air launch equipment and accessories needed to deploy the anti-submarine torpedoes from the P-8A maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft.
