Boeing will provide the U.S. Navy with consumable parts for its F/A-18 multi-role strike fighter jets under a potential 10-year, $278 million delivery order from the Defense Logistics Agency.
The sole-source award was made against a 15-year basic ordering agreement for F/A-18 aircraft component acquisition, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
The delivery order has a five-year base period of performance, which will end Aug. 8, 2027, and an option period of five more years. Work is funded using fiscal 2022 through 2027 defense working capital budget.
In 2010, Boeing received a $5.3 billion Navy contract for the procurement of 124 F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler aircraft. The deliveries of 66 Super Hornets and 58 Growlers were scheduled from 2012 through 2015.
The company has provided over 430 F/A-18E/Fs to the Navy since the early 2000s. The aircraft serves as the frontline strike fighter of the service branch, supporting air combat operations from aircraft carriers.
