Boeing (NYSE: BA) has received a potential 11-year, $999M contract to manage the production of up to 112 wing sets and spare kits for the U.S. Air Force™s A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft.
The company said Wednesday that the service branch initially ordered 27 A-10 wing sets under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.
Pam Valdez, vice president of Air Force services for Boeing™s global services business, said the company is honored to continue serving as a contractor for A-10 wing sets and will leverage its supply base, knowledge and experience with the aircraft™s structures to meet the service™s critical need.
Boeing will collaborate with Korean Aerospace Industries and Save and Close other suppliers to bring the first wing sets to Ogden, Utah-based Hill Air Force Base. The company delivered 173 wing assemblies under a previous contract.
