President Joe Biden on Friday signed another continuing resolution that would fund the federal government at current spending levels through Feb. 18.
The CR includes supplemental appropriations for continued support of Afghanistan evacuees and extends expiring authorizations, the White House said Friday.
Politico reported that Biden signed the CR after Congress passed the 11-week stopgap funding measure Thursday to avoid a government shutdown.
The Senate voted 69-28 to pass the bill hours after the House approved the legislation in a 221-212 vote. The upper chamber passed the measure after reaching a deal late Thursday to hold a vote on an amendment that would prohibit the use of federal funds to implement the president’s vaccine mandate. The amendment was rejected in a 48-50 vote.
The passage of the stopgap bill would provide Congress two more months to reach a bipartisan deal to provide full appropriations for the U.S. military and non-defense agencies.
