Bechtel Receives $303M Naval Nuclear Propulsion Components Contract

Bechtel™s plant machinery company has received a $303.1 million cost-plus-fixed-fee, sole-source contract to provide nuclear propulsion components to the U.S. Navy.

The Defense Department said Tuesday Bechtel Plant Machinery Inc. will carry out work in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, and Schenectady, New York, under the Naval Nuclear Propulsion program.

The Navy will obligate $205.4 million from the military branch™s fiscal 2016 shipbuilding and conversion funds and fiscal 2017 “other” procurement funds at the time of award.

Bechtel manages two laboratories and an engineering organization that conducts research, development, design, acquisition management, reactor operator training and spent-fuel management for the Navy.

The company also received in November a potential $575.1 million contract for naval nuclear propulsion components and a $532.4 million contract modification for similar work.

Bechtel™s plant machinery division also landed a $393 million contract in January to extend the supply of nuclear propulsion components to the Navy.
