The U.S. Navy has selected BAE Systems for a pair of contracts worth potentially $316.7M combined to provide technical support for radio systems and command, control, communications, computers, combat, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance platforms.
BAE said Monday it secured a spot on a $212M contract to help the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division design, integrate, test and sustain radio communications equipment for newly built guided-missile destroyers as well as other Navy and Coast Guard vessels.
Under a separate $104.7M award, the company will provide lifetime support and in-service assistance for C5ISR and radio platforms aboard Navy surface combatant ships, primarily DDG 51 and CG 47-class ships equipped with the AEGIS combat system. Work also covers system support for related shore sites.
Mark Keeler, vice president and general manager of BAE's integrated defense solutions business, said the ensuring the reliability of communications and situational awareness is a “mission-critical priority” for the company and its customers.
Keeler added the company will work to integrate systems for the Navy to counter surface, subsurface and airborne threats.
