BAE Systems has promoted Tara Olivet to senior vice president of finance. Olivet, who assumed the role on Saturday, is responsible for leading the financial operations of U.S.-based businesses, which generated sales of $16.85 billion in 2024 and employs more than 40,000 employees across the United States, the United Kingdom and Sweden, BAE Systems said Monday.
Career Highlights
Olivet, a certified public accountant, has served the company since 2005. She held multiple leadership roles at BAE Systems in the United Kingdom and its American subsidiary, most recently as the latter’s deputy senior vice president of finance. Other positions she held at the global enterprise include vice president of finance for the platforms and services sector, vice president of internal audit and controller, and finance and controls director for the U.K. Aircraft Carrier Alliance, which built and delivered the Queen Elizabeth-class carriers to the Royal Navy.
She holds a master’s degree in business administration from Georgetown University, a bachelor’s degree in business administration in finance and marketing from Ithaca College and a certificate in accounting from the University of California.
In her new role, Olivet will report to BAE Systems Inc. President and CEO Tom Arseneault, a three-time Wash100 award recipient. Commenting on Olivet’s appointment, Arsenault said the new finance SVP distinguished herself as a highly accomplished and widely respected executive. “Her experience, leadership, and dedication to the company’s mission will continue to be foundational to our future growth and success,” he added.
Olivet will succeed Dan Sallet, who will support special projects until his retirement in January.
