BAE Systems has secured a potential $203.9M contract to help the U.S. Navy accomplish post-shakedown availability efforts for Freedom-variant littoral combat ships.
The company's ship repair business in Florida will implement measures to correct trial card deficiencies, incorporate engineering changes and perform new work the service branch identified between the transfer of LCS custody and the commencent of PSA, the Department of Defense said Friday.
BAE will provide the labor, material, technical data, non-standard equipment and support services necessary to meet PSA requirements.
Naval Sea Systems Command received one offer for the cost-plus-award-fee contract and will obligate $7M at the time of award. The contract has a $24.6M initial value and comes with options for the company to provide PSA support for up to seven additional Freedom-class warships.
Work is initially scheduled to conclude by March 2021 and would extend through November 2025 if all the options are exercised.
