BAE Books $318M Army M109 Howitzer Sustainment Support Contract

BAE Systems has secured a five-year, $318 million contract to help the U.S. Army sustain its fleet of self-propelled howitzers and carrier, ammunition, tracked vehicles.

The company said Wednesday it will provide engineering and logistics services to deliver new capabilities, maintenance and testing for the Army’s M109A6 and A7 howitzers and their companion CAT vehicles.

“Sustainment services for the M109 allow the U.S. Army to maintain a high level of operational readiness to take this powerful capability to the fight,” said Dan Furber, director of ground vehicle production for BAE’s combat mission systems business.

Army Contracting Command will determine work locations and budget upon the issuance of each contract order, according to a Department of Defense announcement.

DOD expects work under the System Technical Support and Sustainment System Technical Support contract to conclude on March 7, 2029.

The M109A7 is the latest howitzer in BAE’s M109 family of vehicles that provides an indirect fire support system for the Armored Brigade Combat Teams.
