Austal USA Wins Potential $3.2B Contract to Build Navy Ocean Surveillance Ships

Austal USA will lead an industry team to design and build a maximum of seven ocean surveillance vessels for the U.S. Navy under a potential $3.2 billion contract.

Naval Sea Systems Command received two bids for the T-AGOS detail design and construction project and the service branch will obligate $113.9 million at the time of award, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

The Australian shipbuilder’s U.S. arm partnered with L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX), Noise Control Engineering, TAI Engineering, and Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors to execute contract work.

TAGOS vessels will be built to collect underwater acoustical passive and active surveillance data for the Navy’s Integrated Undersea Surveillance System mission.

The ships will be equipped with L3Harris’ electronic and propulsion technologies.
