August 7th Market Close: GovConIndex and Major Indices All Move in a Positive Direction

The Executive Mosaic GovCon Index (GCI) continued to climb and remained above the 100 mark to close at 100.850 up 0.243 percent. Shares of Rockwell Collins (NYSE: COL) topped the board on reports that United Technologies Corp. was considering a deal to buy the aircraft equipment maker.

The major indices started the week off with the S&P500 and DJIA reaching new highs again. The S&P500 gained 0.16 percent, while the DJIA closed at 22,118.15 up 0.11 percent, and the NASDAQ Composite moved upward by 32 points to close at 6,383.77.

Crude oil closed down on the day. WTI on the NY Mercantile Exchange closed today at $49.33 per barrel, down 0.50 percent as the market still shows concerns about global over-supply.
