American Type Culture Collection will continue to help the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention update an inventory of viruses, bacteria and other reagents for future vaccine research-and-development programs under a potential 10-year, $319.3M contract.
CDC announced the follow-on award in a FedBizOpps notice posted Thursday.
Manassas, Va.-based ATCC will work with the National Center for Immunizations and Respiratory Diseases to characterize viral and bacterial pathogens in support of CDCs surveillance and emergency response efforts.
The nonprofit will also help the agency distribute reagents across the department, public health laboratory partners, researchers and developers for characterization of circulating and novel viruses and bacteria.
ATCC will take reagent order requests through CDCs International Reagent Resource website.
The contract has a six-month transition period, one base year, eight option years and an additional six-month option.
