AT&T (NYSE: T) has received a potential five-year, $609 million task order from the State Department to provide telecommunications support to more than 270 U.S. diplomatic locations across the globe.
The company said Wednesday it will give department personnel access to enterprise-wide connectivity for data, mobile and voice networks, unified communications and Wi-Fi services.
“As the incumbent telecommunications provider to the State Department, their new contract award to us is a vote of confidence in the reliability and performance of our teams, our networking capabilities and the value we deliver in service of their mission,” said Chris Smith, vice president of civilian and shared services at AT&T.
The award comes after the telecom provider received a $725 million task order in June to modernize the Department of Veterans Affairs’ data communications infrastructure.
