An industry team led by Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC) has received a potential eight-year, $237 million to help the U.S. Army‘s Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center develop a combat vehicle experimental prototype.
SAIC will lead the group consisting of Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), GS Engineering, Moog, Nevada Automotive Test Center and Roush Industries toresearch, design, develop, refine, build, integrate and demonstrate two identical demonstrators under the Next Generation Combat Vehicle Prototype contract, SAE International said Wednesday.
“These design and prototyping efforts will assist in refining vehicle requirements, maturing technologies and will contribute to the successful modernization of Army Combat Vehicles going forward,” said Jim Scanlon, SAIC senior vice president and general manager for the Defense Systems Group.
The group is part of the Defense Automotive Technologies Consortium that SAE International’s affiliate SAE Industry Technologies Consortia formed last year.
