The U.S. Army has started soliciting industry proposals for the competitive demonstration and risk reduction phase of the service™s Future Long Range Assault Aircraft program, the Army website reported Tuesday.
The initial phase of the competitive demo process calls for stakeholders to come up with an initial aircraft conceptual design, which includes technical documentation to support trade studies, requirements decomposition and requirements feasibility.
“We are committed to equipping the Army’s first unit with the Future Long Range Assault Aircraft no later than 2030,” said Col. David Phillips, program executive office for aviation’s project manager for FLRAA. “This effort will provide critical risk mitigation and inform the program of record as we pursue the material solution to meet the Army’s aviation modernization priority.
The service issued the solicitation through the Aviation and Missile Technology Consortium™s other transaction authority and expects the FLRAA program to help improve its air assault and medical evacuation capabilities.
