The U.S. Army has asked companies to provide input on what requirements the service branch should incorporate into a new acquisition strategy to replace its Bradley ground combat vehicle platform.
A market survey posted Friday on the beta SAM website asks industry to suggest technical requirements, evaluation criteria, timelines and other contracting items that are relevant to the Army’s effort to revise its Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle procurement approach. The voluntary response survey runs through Feb. 28.
“Industry feedback and partnerships are imperative in moving forward with OMFV, as with all of our modernization efforts,” said Bruce Jette, assistant secretary for acquisition, logistics and technology at the Army and a 2020 Wash100 inductee.
“This is the first step in that process — seeking industry feedback on our characteristics and understanding how industry can innovatively solve our problem set,” Jette added.
The service initially sought proposals for OFMV prototypes in late March of last year and cancelled the solicitation Jan. 16 in a move to review program requirements and procurement approach.
“We will start by releasing broad vehicle characteristics that will be refined through a series of industry engagements, digital design competitions and soldier touch points to inform and sharpen OMFV final prototypes for testing,” said Gen. Mike Murray, commanding general of Army Futures Command and a 2020 Wash100 awardee.
