Army Orders Additional L3Harris Falcon IV Handheld; Dana Mehnert Quoted

L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has won a $57M delivery order to supply more two-channel handheld radios to the U.S. Army as part of a potential 10-year, $3.9B indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.

The company said Wednesday the competitive award marks the third low-rate initial production order L3Harris received under the service branch's potential 10-year radio procurement vehicle, with additional deliveries slated to commence early next year, the company said Wednesday.

The Falcon IV AN/PRC-163 device is designed to help warfighters transmit voice and data communications over an integrated tactical network.

Dana Mehnert, president of L3Harris' communication systems business, said the radio technology works to secure military communications, facilitates interoperability and hosts protected waveforms.

The company developed Falcon IV to also function with the Enhanced Night Vision Goggle – Binocular and other soldier systems.
