A Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) subsidiary, booked $194M in U.S. Army orders to supply small-caliber ammunition products.
Alliant Techsystems Operations will produce 5.56mm, 7.62mm and Cal. 50 cartridges at a government-owned, contractor-operated manufacturing facility located in Independence, Mo., Northrop said Tuesday.
More than 18B small-caliber rounds have been produced at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant since 2000.
The company also invested in technology platforms to increase product quality, environmental stewardship, efficiency and personnel safety at the factory.
