Amentum has secured a $572.4 million contract from the U.S. Air Force to support the North American Aerospace Defense Command’s Cheyenne Mountain Complex.
The Department of War said Monday the cost-plus-incentive-fee award covers the third iteration of the NORAD Cheyenne Mountain Complex-Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment and Space Support Contract, or NISSC III.
What Will Amentum Do Under the Contract?
The Tullahoma, Tennessee-based company will operate, maintain and sustain the NCMC-ITW/AA. The work also covers legacy space command and control, along with related support systems and tools.
Amentum will perform work at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado. The contract is anticipated to run through Sept. 27, 2033.
What Are the Contract Details?
The contract was a competitive acquisition that drew seven offers. Space Systems Command’s Battle Management Command, Control, Communications and Space Intelligence office in Colorado serves as the contracting activity. The government obligated $15.6 million in fiscal 2026 operation and maintenance funds at the time of award.
How Did Amentum Support NISSC II?
A June 2026 bridge notice identified Amentum as the incumbent for NISSC II systems while the government prepared the follow-on NISSC III award. The bridge action was intended to prevent a gap in contractor support while the government completed the NISSC III acquisition and allowed time for the transition to the new contract.
The notice said the existing NISSC II task order was scheduled to expire Dec. 25, 2026, while the follow-on award had originally been scheduled for June. A 45-day government shutdown delayed the acquisition, prompting the government to plan a four-month bridge period with additional one-month options to cover the transition and potential protest period.
Jacobs originally received the NISSC II contract in 2020. The work included classified communications and command-and-control processing, legacy space command-and-control systems and information systems infrastructure at Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station and Peterson Air Force Base, as well as Offutt Air Force Base, Vandenberg Air Force Base and other sites. In 2024, Jacobs completed the spin-off of its Critical Mission Solutions and Cyber & Intelligence government services businesses and merged them with Amentum, forming Amentum Holdings.
