Amentum-Led JV Books Potential $725M DOE Tank Operations Support Extension; John Vollmer Quoted

Amentum‘s joint venture with Atkins has received a potential $725M contract extension to manage tank farms at the Department of Energy’s Hanford site in Washington state for the next 12 months.

Washington River Protection Solutions will oversee waste retrieval, construction and maintenance work on tank farms for the DOE Office of River Protection, Amentum said Tuesday.

“We appreciate the opportunity to continue supporting our DOE client and partnering with the Tri-cities communities to protect the Columbia River and surrounding environment,” said John Vollmer, CEO of Amentum and a 2020 Wash100 awardee.

Mark Whitney, executive vice president and general manager of Amentum’s nuclear and environment business, noted that WRPS will work to help the department address Hanford vitrification goals.

DoD extended contractor support services at the decommissioned nuclear production complex through Sept. 30, 2021.

Orano serves as the industry team’s key subcontractor.
